Red Paper

I haven't posted for quite a while - suffering with daily headaches has dammed my artistic flow somewhat.

I fell in love with some pastels that Michael Newberry did on red paper and as I had some in store its been kind of lurking out there that I might play with this a little. This is my first attempt. It was really hard to think of red as being my darkest colour when the objects I was using had no red in them at all. Definitely a new way of thinking. I really liked the way this came together and the abstract forms in the composition.

Oh yes, beautiful! It has a contemporary feel and an oriental feel. I really like the composition too. The eye keeps moving around discovering new positive and negative shapes.

I do hope those headaches back off soon, Anita. I don't suppose it could be a Spring allergy could it?

Lovely to have you posting again. Now I must try and track down Michael's red paper works.

I saw those pastels that Michael did and am pleased you've done one too. Its fabulous. I really like it a lot.

That colour is so striking. This is a winner.

I hope the headaches go away. There's nothing worse is there? Sometimes some ginger tea helps.

Love the red, Anita! Red is such a dramatic color. Now that I think about it, it's been ages since I've done anything in red. You've got me thinking now.

I love this Anita, and am always impressed at the perfection in your ellipses and your impeccable hatching.

Anita, I love your "play" with the red paper. It took a second for my mind to wrap around it, but now I am amazed at how well it works. The depth in that bowl is great! I hope you are feeling better soon so you can come out and play more often. :)

Robyn - thank you - feel the same way about the contemporary feel. I have orange and purple paper waiting to have a go.

Jeanette - Michael's pastels are always amazing. If I ever get any where near his caliber I will be happy.

Billie - would love to see you work on red.

Mary - it took me a long time to get used to ellipses.

Vivien - I've been struggling to get my work more minimalistic. Teaching yourself to stop before it gets too detailed is hard when you are used to putting in every little nuance.

Teresa - thank you. I was very happy with the abstract quality of the composition and am thinking of developing that more.

Stacy - it was fun just doing something for fun and trying not to take myself too seriously. Plan on doing it a lot more.

Lisa - thank you!

Great pastel Anita. Interesting play of shapes. My last one just bit my backside...having another go at it. Never can take this too seriously, it seems to show in the outcome.
