Under the dock

Have taken my pastels and paper on leave. We had a great few days at Lake Sinclair, Georgia, and I managed to squeeze in some pastels between rides on the boat on the lake.

The light in the early morning on the dock and creating shadows under the dock was pretty - lots of lovely colours in the water and on the wood of the dock. So peaceful out with just the lapping of the water against the seawall.

You have a good eye for a neat comp.

I'd still love to see you dragging that pastel on its side.........

Lovely Anita. I think you are doing very well at using the paper color to define areas/shapes in your pastels.

I'm checking out Lake Sinclair on the map. We will be roaming Georgia and NC end of Sept.

Billie - you are too kind!

Mary - it was so peaceful there - just loved sitting letting time pass.

Robyn - Its amazing how wonderful it is to just be able to go out. We take our freedoms too much for granted in the western world.

Lisa - the light was lovely there, especially when it shimmered off the water.

Katherine - Thank you!

Sue - Lake Sinclair is very pretty - I hope you get there. I really like Georgia. I think late September would be a great time to be there with the trees turning colour.

I saw water and knew you had to be traveling! This is another beautiful pastel. The water looks so refreshing! I love how the paper and underlying pastel shows through in some areas. Just lovely!

HI ANITA!
Lovely captured light. Great colors and form. Hard for others to understand the reason for laying color next to each other rather than blending it. So much to learn. There was a reason for pointilism too. Certainly is a good way to pick color apart. How do you see color in your brown world vs the green one you are in now?

I love the abstract shapes, it's a great composition and the simplification too - you are really beginning to go somewhere with these landscapes/interiors :)

Stacy - it may look refreshing but the water temperature was rather like that of bath water!

Robin - the green is certainly a challenge for me - I tend to avoid it like the plague!

Vivien - thank you!
