On the Threshold

I've been longing to get out to do plein aire work but have several things conspiring against me - the incredible heat (working in the sun with temperatures over 110 degrees F (44 degrees C) and also with the restrictions imposed here so I decided that the next best thing was just to open my front door and the door to the street and draw what I could see from there. Of course, this then becomes somewhat symbollic too of my life here.
“Think of yourself as on the threshold of unparalleled success. A whole, clear, glorious life lies before you. Achieve! Achieve!”
Andrew Carnegie

“The teacher who is indeed wise does not bid you to enter the house of his wisdom but rather leads you to the threshold of your mind.”
Kahlil Gilbran

Anita, these last two are just wonderful. I love the way you work your light and reflections.

You have taken to plein air very well Anita. I love these last two. A great addition to your charcoal interiors. One thing you must be grateful for is the light. All those fantastic shadows. Glad you decided you wouldn't let them get the best of you.

Mary - thank you!

Vivien - it was purely accidental that the message became more than just the view. Don't you just love accidents?

Robin - thank you. The light can be exceptional here - when the sky isn't filled with sand, that is!

What took me so long to find your beautiful site?

Your pastel work is really good. But I can't say that I envy you living in the desert!

Firstly - someone remind me not to play around with my settings! I somehow enabled comment moderation and I didn't mean to and then when I saw there were three comments to be moderated I thought I clicked for all three to be published and lost one - so for whoever it was who came here via Vivien's blog - please come back! I didn't mean to delete your comment! :-)

Casey - I hope you will come back again!

Dave - can't say its much fun living here but you have to grin and bear it somehow - Thank God for art!

Hi Anita, Im also working with Michael and would like to put a link to your blog on mine. Im very new to this blogging business but can see how it will be very supportive.

You have inspired me with this picture. Im looking out my patio doors with greater interest pondering the possibility of a picture done from inside looking out. Thanks

I forgot to comment on the brilliant quotes you find - I've especially loved the Khalil Gilbran ones.
