Neutral zone

I've spent this week neutralizing the greys, working on heightening the highlights and deepening the dark areas. Interesting process that involves a great deal of squinting which makes bright and dark areas stand out. Still working on really getting that neutral area in the greys.

What great lights and darks. It's wonderfully rendered and you've developed a lot of 'interest' in this everyday 'model'. Love the reflections in the glass.

No wonder I'm having trouble seeing 'values' in my own work. I've scrolled up and down between these two stages and they BOTH look beautiful to me, Anita. And I've just spent over 200 euros on new glasses and I can't see what you've done! So I love them both! LOL

Anita, you have achieved such a complex play on light and shadow...and it seems so perfect!I'm always fascinated by the light/shadow effects and you seem to have got them just right... Amazing work! The reflection in the glass, the shadows creating distances....I could go on & on! :)

Holy cow, what a beautiful work. The best of all.. technical skill serves the work and not the other way round only to become an empty demonstration of virtuosity.
